About Derek
The thrill of competition and working hard to show improvement within himself,
mind and body, has long been his dream and desire. For as long as he can remember,
his ambition to be the very best at something has always been ingrained in his soul.
Like many other boys growing up on Long Island, New York, his first goal, was to be
the most outstanding baseball player in every league that he competed and to eventually
become the most valuable player on the field of a professional baseball team. This was a
goal which he worked long hours and extemely hard to fulfill, starting in little league
at the age of six, and continuing to master the game into his junior year in high school.

In the summer of that year he suffered an injury to his ankle
which threatened his baseball career, however, he was determined
to rehabilitate the ankle and get back on the field as his senior
season was dawning. As the ole saying goes, "everything happens
for a reason.” At the time, little did he know that this injury was
a sign. A sign which drove him to the gym for extensive rehabilitation
work outs. All summer he was in the gym working out, not only the ankle
injury but to strenghten his over-all body in general. As the long hours
in the gym wore on, he noticed that his size and strength began to increase.
At 17 years old the results were becoming more and more evident day by day.
His love for the game of baseball began to drift as the love of the art of
bodybuilding began to alter his dreams and give him a new goal in life.....
To become a bodybuilder!

Bodybuilding fascinated him from the beginning. Watching and analyzing the
muscles progress through the rigors of hard work, exercise, diet and recovery.
The challenges of adding weight after weight to become, not only bigger, but
proportionately defined and cut, increased his desire to become the best.
During the past three years, bodybuilding has become his main focus, actually
over taking his whole day with respect to eating, sleeping and dreaming of the
art of bodybuilding with the ultimate dream of attaining his pro card. Now at
twenty-one years old, he can see my potential, but he also realize that he has
a lot to learn. With hard work in front of him and a focused attitude, he knows
the possibilities are endless.
