However, it all started out quite differently for this lanky youth.
He was born in Houston, Texas on Dec. 2, 1977 to blue collar parents of Irish and German descent.
At an early age he developed a love for boxing - no one would be kicking sand in this Texan's face!
From fifteen to nineteen, Rob achieved an amazing boxing record, of 76-2. Winning titles
included Golden Gloves, Silver Glover, and Jr. Olympics and numerous titles in Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania.
The only thing missing was bulk.

Coaches had said "do lots of cardio and to
stay away from the weights," but nothing could hold Rob back from mastering the
gym! Upon relocating to Ohio he gave up boxing and began weight-training full
time. When he started he was 170 lbs. but within two years he had achieved a
muscle mass of 225 lbs. with only 5% body fat.
